What gives a luxury hotel an edge over other hotels?

Hotels have certainly come a long way in terms of quality of accommodation provided, services and the overall facilities and amenities offered to guests. The early concept of a hotel catered just to the basic necessities and usually offered very limited options to guests. With the coming of the luxury segment of hotels things changed remarkably, with even budget hotels these days ensuring that they maintain a decent standard of accommodation to ensure that guests will be comfortable.
Of course as tastes differ and so do budgets, numerous hotels have come up that cater to a wide variety of clientele. With a rise in the numbers of tourists visiting cities like London, it has become a necessity to offer a wide variety of accommodation. Some of the significant differences that distinguish luxury London hotels from budget hotels are:
Luxury Hotels: These are meant for those who want to stay in plush surroundings with staff that are highly trained to cater to each and every need of guests. The ambiance spells sheer luxury, with every detail being attended to that ensures guests have a very comfortable stay. The decor and furniture is of the highest quality and they offer dining facilities that are truly world class.
From the finest cuisines to wines, only the best is on offer. The facilities on offer are wide-ranging from swimming pools, spas, exercise centers, in-house lounges, restaurants and bars among many other perks. The quality of customer service is of the highest standard and guests are treated like royalty. With fully furnished rooms tastefully decorated, to the latest gadgets and accessories luxury hotels are certainly a cut above the rest. They may be expensive but are well worth the price.
Budget Hotels: The name itself reveals their purpose to cater to those who travel on limited financial resources or a budget. They offer basic amenities and facilities such as a clean bed and a bathroom with basic furniture. They do maintain a level of cleanliness as required by the hotel industry, but do not offer any extra facilities other than a free newspaper or a simple breakfast which might be included in the room costs. There would probably be a shared television with Internet access being restricted to the lobby. The rates vary depending up on the location of the hotel and it basically serves as a place to rest at.
